Fuel for School assembly this morning
This morning the Junior children enjoyed an assembly from The Real Junk Food Project, the people behind the Fuel for School scheme that we joined this term. The assembly was led by Kevin but he was supported by ‘Fred the Fox’. We were also lucky to welcome Adam Smith, the inspirational founder of the project, to Farfield as well as two guests from Taiwan. I showed our guests around Farfield Farm (they were very impressed!) and talked about our work with food in the curriculum; we may have made some more valuable links for the future e.g. sourcing ingredients for our cooking lessons.
For the rest of this half term, the Fuel for Schools ‘Pay as you feel’ stalls of intercepted food will continue outside the old cafe on Tuesday and Fridays. Where possible, we will supplement with produce from Farfield Farm: tonight there are apples, courgettes, lots of tomatoes, very ripe figs, some shiny green peppers and some beans.
