10/11/23
We have had a very busy first week back and it was lovely to finally meet lots of you at parents evening.
Science
We arrived back to school this week to lots of mould (intentionally) growing in our classrooms. Before the half term break, we had set up an investigation to find out why mould grows. The children were very excited to look at the results of the investigation and wrote some good conclusions about their findings. They were able to clearly identify the conditions mould likes to grow in and we even had a discussion about the different colours of mould which can be found.
We have also been looking into the life and work of Edward Jenner this week. He was the first scientist to explore vaccinations and his approach was a little unorthodox and scary. He decided that cow pox could help prevent people catching the much worse disease of small pox, which usually killed. The children explored this concept in detail and have produced some comic strips/ story boards to explain.
