Farsley Farfield Primary School

Parent Governor vacancies

The school governing body is essential for strategic leadership of our school and for the accountability of the head teacher. They are the ‘critical friends’ of the school. We are fortunate to have a very active and dedicated team of governors at this school.

We currently have two vacancies for Parent Governors.  We have a strong governing body which we are looking to strengthen further with someone with skills in buildings/architecture or sports if possible. We are keen to have a governing body that reflects the diversity of our school community.

The school’s full governing body generally meets each term for an evening meeting that lasts approximately 2-2 ½ hours. There are also sub committees that generally meet twice a term in the late afternoon/early evening for about an hour or so. Some governors may choose to have an additional responsibility, e.g. Health and Safety, which may require some additional time. Training is available as required.

If you would like to find out more information about being a Parent Governor or would like to declare your interest, please contact Rob Heap, our Chair of Governors, by email at rob.heap@farsleyfarfield.org.uk before Friday 26th April 2019.  If you are unable to email, please pass a letter to either office at school to be passed on.  If there is more than one nomination, there will be an election amongst parents, with candidates asked to submit a short piece of text explaining why they wish to take on the role.
