Headteacher blog 5th May 2023
It has been a less-than-satisfactory school week with a bank holiday and then partial closure due to strike action again on Tuesday. Nevertheless, we still managed to squeeze in some mountain biking for Y5 at Otley Chevin and a trip to Leeds on Thursday for 4HB. I postponed a further trip to Leeds today due to a poor weather forecast and now feel a bit silly as the rain is holding off.
Next week is Y6 SATs and we are now in ‘the window’ for Y2 SATs as well. The children and staff have worked hard and are well-prepared. Last year in Y6 we had superb results: in the top 20% of schools by some measures. Whether this year’s Y6 reach those heights or not, it is most important that the children have made good progress individually from their starting points at the beginning of COVID-hit Y3.
We are still waiting for OFSTED and just wish they would come! Having said that, a visit next week during SATS or a visit the week after during Y5 residential would be a logistical challenge!
