Maths
We have continued with our multiplication and division topic in Maths this week, focussing mainly on formal methods of multiplication. We looked at how to multiply 2- and 3-digit numbers by a 1-digit number using a column method. Have a look at the video to recap this method.

English
In English this week, we spent time looking carefully at the genre of historical fiction. We read two historical fiction extracts and thought about the similarities and differences between them. From this, the children were able to decipher what historial fiction was and were able to highlight key features of them. This will support children when writing their own historical fiction stories later this half-term.

Science
In Science this week, we learnt all about the digestive system. We started by asking the children how many parts of the digestive system they could name, and most could name a few! We then talked through each part of the digestive system and explored the functions of them. The children enjoyed drawing round one another and then drawing the digestive system on big paper too!

Murton Park
4L are going to Murton Park on Thursday 1st February. They will need to bring a water bottle, packed lunch and plenty of warm clothes as the majority of the day will be outside (this can be non-uniform). If you haven’t returned permission slips yet, please return these on Monday. We have also asked for a voluntary contribution of £16.50 for the day, which can be paid on Parent Pay. Although the contributions are voluntary, we do need the majority of families to pay to enable us to go on the trip. Thank you very much to those families who have paid already!
