Phonics

Our tricky word this week is ‘my‘. Can your child find this word in a book?

We have also learnt the phoneme/ grapheme ‘oo.’ It can make a short sound like in the word look or a long sound like food. ‘Can you use your phonic flashcards to make words that have ‘oo‘?

We have enjoyed singing this song too!

Maths

This week the children have been comparing amounts of objects. They have been using the language of ‘more than’, ‘fewer than’ and ‘an equal number’ to describe how many objects there are in each set. ‘Fewer than’ is used rather than ‘less than’, as the focus is on countable things.

Amazing Frogspawn!

We have enjoyed learning about frogs this week. We went to the school pond and found lots of frogspawn. We are going to look after it in our classrooms and hopefully it will turn into tadpoles and then frogs!

The children have also done some super writing about the frogspawn.

RGK on the Farm

RGK enjoyed their afternoon on the farm. They had fun feeding the chickens, planting ‘magic’ beans and exploring the polytunnels.

RP will be visiting the farm on Thursday 14th March.

Everything Else…

Reading Challenge

Well done to everyone who completed the reading challenge in February. This month you need to read/share a book about Friendship.

A Busy Week Ahead!

Next week is going to be very busy in Reception! We are looking forward to seeing lots of you at our Bedtime Story Evening on Wednesday evening. The event starts at 6pm. Don’t forget to wear your pyjamas!! Please enter the school via Mrs Walton’s desk. You can park in the car park.

On Thursday we will be celebrating World Book Day. We are looking forward to seeing everyone dressed up as an adjective. The adults are busy getting their outfits ready!

We are visiting Farsley Library on Friday. The session will be led by Kate Midwood and we will have lots of fun sharing stories.

Have a lovely weekend.
