World Book Day

The highlight of this week has definitely been our World Book Day celebrations. The children came dressed as so many fantastic adjectives and were very keen to engage in all of the different activities that we had on offer. It was particularly lovely to spend some time with Reception, with the Year 4 children reading with their buddies and helping them decorate some brand new bookmarks. We also spent some time in the afternoon decorating our story stones, which turned out great! Hopefully we’ll be able to use them soon to generate some fun stories!

Science

In our science lessons this week we have continued our work exploring the different classifications of animals, this time focusing on the different invertebrates. After learning more about the key characteristics that can be used to group these types of living things, we decided to go outside and see what kinds of invertebrates we could find on the school grounds. Using the pooters, the children worked in pairs to collect an invertebrate and, after drawing it into their books in as much detail as they could, attempted to classify it based on its characteristics. The most common invertebrates we found were definitely worms, so next week we might be able to look into this in a little more detail.

General Notices

This week’s homework has all been set online. It is due in on Wednesday 13th March 2024.

  • Maths – Fractions work set on Mathletics
  • Spelling Shed – At least five games practising the -sion words. The children can also do more than this, which is why the assignment will not disappear once five games have been played.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Miss Levett and Mrs Kenvyn
