‘S’ Factor Finale!
This morning, the school came together to see the finalists from our ‘S’ Factor science competition. We are very grateful to governor Bernice Ridley, parent Davina Bhanabhai and chemistry undergraduate Alex Grimshaw for forming our judging panel – great female scientist role models! Many thanks to Croda for most of the prizes.
The class winners each presented their investigation or demonstration to the whole school on the stage, with their work being ‘reflected’ live onto the big screen and their voice amplified – many thanks PTA!
Every participant did very well but the winners were:
Year 6 Saad (charging a phone using a watermelon!)
Year 5 Evie (square bubbles)
Year 4 Megan and brother Jack (the digestive system)
Year 3 Eden (crystals)
Year 2 Paige (Oil and Water)
Year 1 Alfie (ping pong ball and balanced forces)
Reception Tom (balloon rocket)
We had even more prizes for the two overall winners: Tom and Megan
Many thanks to all those that entered, all the judges and especially to Mrs Daniels and Mrs Galbraith for organising the whole thing. Fantastic and inspiring!

Well done to all the children who took part in the S Factor! It was a fabulous morning of innovation, experiments and entertainment and I was very impressed ! You all are the next Einstein/ Newton/ Fleming/Curie!!! And thank you for having me as a judge. I loved every minute!
Fantastic work everyone!!
This morning was superb! I was so proud and impressed with the effort everyone had gone to. The innovation was brilliant and there was some serious bravery to present in front of the whole school. Well done everyone!
We loved doing the experiment in front of the school years. Well done Maya !
Wow!! Well done everyone who took part. You should all be really proud of yourselves. Seriously impressive!!
What a wonderful day we have had! We have so many budding scientists at Farfield. I can’t wait until the next Science day. My favourite experiment was Megan’s poo! My favourite moment was when Evie said ‘well done’ to her brother – she was a real winner for me for being such a good citizen and such a supportive sister.
Thank you x
I want to see more!!!
I was nervous but I’m happy because I took part.
These experiments look amazing. Well done to everyone who took part and the winners. Great effort !!
What a brilliant week of science it’s been at Farfield! The participants have worked incredibly hard at home to prepare their investigations and then have done a super job at school presenting them. I’m so proud of the finalists for being so brave and confident in front of the entire school. Well done Farfield!
Fantastic work everyone. Well done everyone you should all be very proud of yourselves.

This looked like a great day at the school. Megan worked really hard to perfect the digestion experiment so I’m really pleased it went so well. Great to see Jack helping out too (really sorry to have missed the square bubbles, they sound brilliant).
