Reception News – 19.4.24

Wow – we can’t believe we are in the last term of Reception! We have lots of fun activities planned including our trip to Harlow Carr in June.

Phonics

In phonics this week our tricky word is like. Can your child say this word in a sentence? The children enjoyed joining in with this tricky word song!

We have also learnt the phoneme/ grapheme oi like in boil and air like in fair.

Maths

This week, the children have consolidated their understanding of the composition of numbers by investigating the numbers within 7. Composing and de-composing numbers involves the children investigating part–part–whole relations, e.g. seeing that 7 can be made of 5 and 2. The children have deepened their understanding of a whole being made up of smaller parts through some fun games and practical experiences, such as investigating the number of ducks on a pond.

PE

This half term we are developing locomotion and jumping skills. The children had lots of fun playing various games today. They were very tired by the end of the lesson!

Everything Else…
