Cycling, sewing, singing.
Good evening. We have had another packed week in Year 5.
One of the most popular activities was when the children got on their bikes to gain confidence and practise their cycling skills for the residential in a few weeks. Chris Young (ex-pro cyclist) led the groups around the playground and will be part of the team taking the children to Otley Chevin next week.
Music
5HB completed the music unit by singing the folk song Erie Canal and playing their glockenspiels. The instrumental part was especially tricky, using five note, but the end performance was a credit to the children’s hard work.
DT
Most of 5HB finished sewing their stuffed animal last Friday, with some children working this week to complete them. I was really impressed with the perseverance and determination shown to finish their projects independently. Threading needles can be a full time job for adults in sewing lessons, but every child mastered this tricky skill. New stitches were attempted and a very attractive zoo was created.
French
French this half term is vêtements (clothes). As a bit of fun, why not play the pairs game with your child?
Finally, why not get your bike out of the shed, give the chain a bit of oil and head down to the canal to help your child develop their cycling stamina.
Have a great long weekend and see you all on Tuesday
