Greeks and Space in Year 5
Hi all,
We have had a hard working but fun week in Year 5.
On Monday some children enjoyed going boldering in PE, while others participated in Netball or Crosscountry run by a coach from Leeds Rhinos and another group benifited from professional dance teaching by Lilly from Northern Arts.
In English we have been learning about Greek Myths. 5KH enjoyed freeze framing Theeus and the Minotaur. See if you can guess what is happening in these photos.
In Science 5B enjoyed scaling the solar system, using toilet roll. Each sheet of toilet roll represented 20,000km and they started with the sun, continuing all the way out to Pluto.

Please can all children make sure that they bring their reading records signed every day and that they read every day. We like to win Extreme Reading in Year 5 and reading every day is really good for your child’s learning and development!
We will be doing Greek day on Tuesday the 1st October and your child will need a Greek outfit for this day. This does not have to be bought and could be made out of a sheet and some rope. See below or online for ideas
We will be delivering RSE lessons next week ,which were the ones scheduled to be delivered in Year 4. These lessons will teach your child about changes that occur during puberty. You may find that your child has some questions when they come home although they will also have a chance to ask questions anonymously while at school.
We hope you have a lovely sunny weekend,
The Year 5 team.
