Skipping Through The Week!

Maths

In our maths lessons, we have been finishing up our work on place value and beginning to explore the formal methods of addition. We began by getting to grips with the basics of the method without any exchanging, then gradually built up to calculations with more than exchange. The children did really well in each of these lessons and have shown a good understanding of how to solve problems in this way. This week’s homework is based around this work.

P.E.

This week in P.E. we had a special skipping workshop with the instructors from the Skipping School. The children were able to build on the skills that they developed in Year 2 and even pick up some new ones! Over the course of the year, we will continue to work on these techniques in preparation for the Year 4 skipping festival. We were all very impressed with the levels of enthusiasm, dedication and resilience shown by each of the children and we received some excellent feedback from the Skipping School instructor as well!

PSHE

In PSHE, we have been learning all about democracy – particularly how the process works in our own country. This week, we were able to get a first hand experience of this when we held our own elections for the school council. Our nominees all pulled together their arguments and stances and we have to say that the quality of each of them made the decision very difficult! After sharing them with the class, the rest of the children each cast a vote for the candidate that they felt was best suited for the role.

General News

This week’s homework contains both maths and spelling work and is due in on Wednesday 16th October. If the children have any difficulty completing the tasks, they can speak to their teacher on Monday or Tuesday to recieve additional support.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
