Phonics
This week we have learnt the phonemes sh, th, ng, y. The children have also practised writing words with these phonemes in eg shut and ring. Our tricky word is be.
Maths
This week, the children have built on their understanding of the composition of numbers by investigating the composition of 3, 4 and 5. Composing and de-composing numbers involves the children investigating part–part–whole relations, e.g. seeing that 3 can be composed of 1 and 2. They enjoyed watching an episode of Numberblocks where they were on a stampoline. The children had fun making their own ‘stampoline’ pictures.
Understanding the World
This week we have been talking about the celebrations people celebrate all over the world. We talked about how Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus on the 25th of December. The children have enjoyed listening to the story of the first Christmas.
A Wriggly Nativity
We are looking forward to welcoming you all to our nativity next week. Our performances are on Monday 9th December at 2.30pm and Thursday 12th December at 9.30am in the infant building hall. The children have all brought home a copy of the stage layout, so you know where to sit.
Everything Else…
Have a lovely weekend.
