It’s been a busy week of rehearsals, arty activities, maths challenges and lots of writing!

English

This week in English we have been on a polar adventure. We began the week with a drama lesson where we acted out a journey to the Arctic. We had to pack our own bags, create a ship to sail on, pitch our tents and then explore. We were surprised to find a lost penguin hiding in a snowy cave and discussed how we could help him back to his home in Antarctica. We then looked at using a range of adjectives to describe the amazing things we had seen in the Arctic such as a polar bear, icebergs and the northern lights. We then used these adjectives alongside prepositional phrases to write our own setting descriptions of the Arctic.

Maths

We have been exploring how to draw 2D shapes in our maths lessons this week. Using our knowledge of shape properties (sides and vertices) we used rulers to carefully demonstrate how to draw a variety of 2D shapes in different ways.

Geography

How can we help save the polar bears? This week in geography we looked at how climate change is impacting the polar regions and the animals that live there. We discussed what we can do to help slow down the rising temperature of the earth and wrote a list of things we can do to help save the polar bears.

PE

2BW have had lots of fun learning a dance to ‘Let it Snow’ with our coach from Northern Dance. Have a look at our wonderful performance…
