Year 1 – 20.12.24
Simply the Nativity
The highlight of our week has been our two Christmas performances. The children did an incredible job and we really hope you enjoyed watching them. Here is a link to some photos and videos of the performance.
Christmas Party Day
We had a wonderful time at our Christmas party on Thursday. The children enjoyed singing, dancing, playing party games and crafting.
A special visitor
Phonics
We have taught all of the Phase 5 phonemes this half term and this week we completed some phonics assessments with the children to see which sounds they know. Please keep using your flashcards at home to ensure your child knows all of the sounds.
Maths
In maths this week we have been completing arithmetic and reasoning assessments. The children have really impressed us with their knowledge.
PPA
In art this half term the children have enjoyed making calendars inspired by Kandinsky. The children have brought these home today.
In science the children have been learning about recycling and which materials can be recycled. They have also been litter picking on our school grounds.
In cooking the children have been practising using a bridge and claw grip to cut tomatoes and celery.
In RE this half term the children have been learning about why Christians celebrate Christmas. They have had fun listening to the Christmas story and acting it out.
Thank You
A huge thank you from all of the Year 1 team for our lovely cards and gifts. We hope you all enjoy the winter break and a very Merry Christmas to all of our families celebrating.
