English
This week we have really been focusing on our vocabulary in English. We worked hard as a class to produce a ‘word waiter’ to help us further develop our descriptive writing. As a class, we worked together to gather vocabulary for adverbs, adjectives of colour, abstract nouns and propositions. We then used these to create short phrases/ sentences that we could use in our narrative writing to be descriptive about a character’s feelings and emotions. It was great to see the children really thinking about their word choices and the impact that they wanted to have on the reader.
World Book Day
We had a really enjoyable World Book day this year and were really impressed with the read aloud competition entries. It was really hard to pick winners as everyone tried so hard with their reading – a huge well done!
The winner for 6J was Isobel Fain-Brown and the winner for 6D Arjun Bassan – Thank you so much to everyone who entered.
We spent some time with our Y2 reading buddies creating monster corner bookmarks. It was so lovely to see the Y6 children supporting their buddies with some tricky folding and they have all created some lovely bookmarks.
All children should have received a £1 book token. This can be used next week at the book fair from Wednesday 12th to Monday 17th March.
Read aloud Year 6
PE
One of the choices for this term’s PE lessons is gymnastics. Mrs Dobkin has been so impressed by the children in this group as they have worked well together and created some incredible sequences already using some seated balances and some tricky standing balances.
Here is a sneak peak of a routine from Riya and Cate in 6J.
