Another busy week!
Maths
This week, we have been learning more about multiplication. 3CW have been working on grouping, sharing, and the multiples of 3. 3B have been using the multiples of 3 to divide into numbers into different groups. Maths homework this week focuses on the 3 times tables.
English
We have thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Leon and the Place Between’, and Year 3 has been busy writing up their setting up descriptions with beautiful doors inviting you to read all about the Place Between. This week, we have also retold the story through a storyboard and have focused on writing an opening passage of their narrative of this story. We will write a climax for this story next week and also practise a poem for a performance; we have sent this home this week for children to have a read-through.
Science
In science this week, we have examined different materials in more detail. Children learned more about the meaning of opaque, translucent, and transparent and used their understanding to select suitable materials for creating sunglasses. After paired and group discussions, most children concluded that translucent material would be best since it wouldn’t let all the light in.
The Alps
Year 3 enjoyed creating a fact file about the Alps to support their comparison of Yorkshire and the Alps next week. They will look at similarities and differences and decide where and why they would like to visit. The children focused on the location, countries the Alps stretched through, wildlife, activities tourists might participate in, and interesting facts. Children were shocked when they discovered the height of the Alps, and many children in 3B said they would love to ski through the Alps!
French
3B have enjoyed learning all about the seasons; this week, we have been learning about ‘En Automne’, and we loved getting into the role of the season to share how it can feel. Children then worked in pairs, conversing and sharing their favourite seasons and why.
P.E
Here are some pictures of 3B who enjoyed taking their gymnastics outside. The children made different balancing moves using their arms, legs, heads, and faces. They worked in pairs to create balanceds equences of circus-themed music. They were particularly excited because this linked perfectly with our class text this term!
In Dodgeball this week, children worked on their aim and throw using dodgeballs and nets across the playgrounds.
Well done to our special mentions – Luca, Yuvraj, Tilli, Charlie & Maryam!
Class Dojo champions – Jessica & Zahra
