Another Winning Week
Unbelievably, we are racing towards the last week of the half term. Another packed week has seen …
Football
This week, the Year 5 football team travelled the short distance to Tyersal in Bradford to play a match against Co-op Academy Beckfield. The game took place on a small, all weather MUGA pitch and , although our team are more suited to larger open spaces, the boys played extremely well and won 8-3. The score actually could have been a lot higher, if their keeper hadn’t had an inspired game. It would be unfair to single out any one player on the Farfield team, as it was a solid all round performance by everyone. For the record, the team was Logan, Lewis, Alfie, Teddy, Theo, Fraser (GK), Finley, Owen and Zak. Goal scorers were Alfie (4), Lewis (3) and Teddy (1). We have another match next Tuesday v Horsforth Newlaithes away. Kick off will be around 3:45/4:00pm (depending on traffic) and parents are welcome to attend.
Maths
We are coming to the end of our Addition and Subtraction topic. Some of the trickiest activities have been multi step problems and finding the missing number. Click the links to access videos to help your child if they find these difficult.
English
After completing the newspaper report last week, we have moved on to our next writing activity. This week and next, we are creating our own ‘genuine imitation’ Greek Myth. So far, we have invented an Ancient Greek style monster and a hero. After imaginingand drawing these, we used adjectives to describe their appearance then wrote sentences that included expanded noun phrases.
Music
As we are coming to the end of the half term, 5KH recorded their final version of the Livin’ on a Prayer.
The video of the performance can be found by clicking here.
5B will be recording their version next Friday!
Science
In Science, we have continued with our investigations into the Earth and the Solar System. This week 5KH took advantage of the sunny weather to look at how the sun moves through the sky, by creating a sun dial on the playground. Every hour, the class drew the position of a shadow cast by a pole, noting how it altered throught the day
Just a reminder that homework is due in on a Wednesday. If your child finds any of the tasks tricky over the weekend, please ask them to speak to their teacher on Monday morning so we can talk through with them how to complete it.
Have a great weekend.
