Greek Day and other news from Year 5
Hi all,
We had a fantastic Greek Day in Year 5 on Tuesday, despite the weather not being very Greek!
Here are some photos for you to enjoy.
Maths
In Maths this week we have been working on addition and subtraction methods. Homework is to complete some additions. Please do help your child and ensure that they are confident with this method. Almost everyone was when we completed the work in lessons.
English
In English we have begun work on our newspaper report based on a story from the Odyssey. The children are currently planning this and seem enthusiastic to begin writing. We have looked at different key features such as using fronted adverbials, quotes and reported speech and different verb tenses as well as using the passive voice. The children will type their newspaper report on their Chromebooks next week and so they will be able to share it with you if you wish to see it. English homework is continued practice of the Y3/4 or Year 5/6 spellings. We will have a test on the spellings learnt so far next week.
We hope you enjoy a hopefully sunnier weekend,
Many thanks ,
The Year 5 team.
