It was lovely to see the nursery and Reception Nativity this week. It was a more ambitious production than the norm, with more speaking parts and more challenging songs. I think that they did very well and, as I said after Thursday’s performance, I think the band of angels were the best we have had in terms of their singing and movements. Well done everyone involved, including the staff coordinating over eighty 3, 4 and 5 year olds so well. Next week we have two more shows: KS1 led by Year 1 and KS2 led by Y5.
We had a budget review on Monday. I have been head here over twenty years, and the financial situation has never been more challenging. Frankly, the sums don’t balance any more and we are facing a significant six-figure deficit next year. We have some specific challenges and additional costs relating to our site and the needs of our children. I can’t see how we can make the cuts required – we have made many already – so we may have to live with a deficit for a while. The sky won’t fall in.
