Farsley Farfield Primary School

This week has been a sporty week.

The cross-country season is starting and we are delighted to have four new courses across the school grounds ranging from a short green route of just over 300m to a black route of over 800m. Routes can also be combined for longer sessions. The children have reported that they like the variety of the different routes: the long grass area, a diversion around the orchard and a rare excursion on the far side of the junior building. We are keeping notes of some of the times and, at the moment, the course record is held by a Y4 boy. On Saturday, a number of children are competing in the first city-wide races at Middleton Woods. Good luck to them!

Other sporting events this week have included hosting 4 other schools for a golfing afternoon – the grass was mown very short on the top field – and a dodgeball event at Priesthorpe. We are also preparing for our first competitive league football matches of the season coming up soon. Once again, we are the only primary school in the Pudsey Family of Schools that have entered the city football leagues. Many thanks to the staff that support these sporting events, usually as unpaid volunteers, without whom this would not be possible.
