It has been an excellent first week of the half term including two very successful parents’ evenings. We also had children’s family photographs – a logistical nightmare, especially on a split site – and Y5 Bikeability training. We are enjoying the unseasonably warm and dry weather, with children still able to make full use of our school grounds without the need to wear wellies. An addition to lunchtime fun this week has been ‘pig walking’ around the orchard and upper field grounds: another surreal ‘only at Farfield’ scene. The children have been told to let go if ‘Socks’ pulls too hard: we really don’t want to see a rampaging pig with a child dragged behind! Socks’ wagging tail and eagerness suggest that she is enjoying her mid-day adventures.
Next week we have our first full governing body meeting of the school year. We have been asking for new staff and parent governors recently and we have had an excellent response to both requests. The governing body is important for accountability and for strategic direction; it is good to know that there is strong interest in it amongst the school community.
