Headteacher’s blog 14th March 2025
This week, I think I have taught in class more than I have for many years: covering a teacher absence in Y6 as well as my small regular teaching commitment. I have enjoyed it and it is a good reminder of the demands of the job – the last time I had full-time responsibility for a class was in the previous century! That makes me feel old: as did the child who this week asked me why my chin had gone white. I think I may be able to offer to be Father Christmas when I retire!
I have enjoyed seeing Reception children out and about on the grounds this week: one day collecting frog spawn, another searching for worms and a third visiting the school farm. Farm Club also found lots and lots of worms digging through our compost bins on Monday; I was very surprised when one child claimed to be frightened of them. How can a Farfield child be scared of a worm? With Mrs Alushaj leaving recently, and Ms Howells retiring from the school farm at Easter, we are going to be short-staffed on Farfield Farm this year. Are there any parents or grandparents who would like to help us one afternoon a week over the summer term?
