Hitting the ground running
We are definitely straight back into the new half term this week. All week, groups of children have been out on their bikes around the school ground and on the local streets, becoming more confident and competent at riding. This will continue next week. It is great to see their smiles when they come back into class (although I suspect missing regular lessons is a part of their happiness).
We have also started to practise the Christmas performance of Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits. We were immediately blown away by the effort the children had already made into learning their lines. There is still plenty of hard work needed, but already we are confident that it will be a memorable experience.
English
In English, we have started to look at explanation texts, with our new book being Curiosity – The Story of a Mars Rover. Over the next few weeks we will look at the text’s features, then use them when writing about a Mars rover that we have made in DT lessons.
Maths
Maths continues with Multiplication and Division. This week we have looked at factors, common factors and prime numbers, building on from the times table knowledge that the children learned last year.
You can help your child by watching the following videos.
We have also suggested that if your child is fluent at their times tables, any TT Rockstars work focuses on the division aspects to help their fluency.
Music
The final performance of Livin’ on a Prayer by 5B was just too late for the final blog of last half term, so without any more introduction…
Finally, your child should have come home with a slip giving details of how to order the photographs taken this week and a QR code for you to access their pictures.
Have a great weekend.
