Making Musical Instruments

This week our main focus has been creating our musical instruments as part of this half-term’s DT. A few weeks ago, we spent some time planning which instruments we were going to make and, more importantly, what we would need in order to make them. The idea was to turn everyday items or ‘junk’ into a range of different musicaal instruments and the children all did a fantastic job!

With our resources all gathered, we spent some time in class learning how to safely use a range of different tools including saws and hand drills in order to cut and shape our instruments. The children worked brilliantly and were also very supportive of each other – lending a helping hand to friends in need. We have to say, the final products were all wonderful!

Since the children are now on holiday, we have not set any specific homework for them to complete, though it would be beneficial to continue with their reading and times table practise if they have the time.

We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas holiday!
