Phonics

It has been quite noisy in our classroom! We have heard lots of different sounds that we needed to investigate. The children were great detectives and managed to listen and think of ideas of where the sounds came from and what they might be. We also played a ‘Match the Sound’ game using musical instruments.

Maths

This week we have continued to look at the number 2, the colour yellow, and rectangular shapes. The children showed 2 by collecting 2 items and completing 2 actions: using ‘Flippy Flappers’. Some children practised their counting skills using 1:1 correspondence and formed the numerals 1-5.

Houses

This week we looked at different styles of houses. We discussed the buildings we live in and thought about whether we have any neighbours attached to our buildings. We then looked at houses from the past and discussed the different features. The children had a go at building a ‘strong’ structure using our class bricks.

Everything else

We practised writing our names, spent time on the bikes, had tummy time in the hall, experimented with coloured water, and had lots of fun playing with our friends.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Nursery Team
