Oh yes we did!
It’s been a brilliant second week back in Year 3. 3SB thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the pantomime and, just like 3B the week before, did a fantastic job of representing Farfield. We are now ready to start our work on planning and writing our own versions of traditional tales!
In maths, we have been learning the 4 x table and starting to learn the 8 x table. Any work that the children can do on learning these facts at home (or drawing arrays and diagrams to help work the facts out) would be very helpful. We have been talking a lot about how we can use the facts we know to work out those we don’t, for example doubling our 4 x table facts to work out the 8 x table.
In science we looked at shadows, learning more about how shadows are formed and creating our own shadows using torches. We learnt about transparent, translucent and opaque materials and had fun choosing materials to make our own sunglasses.
In history, we found out all about the importance of the River Nile in ancient Egypt. The children shared their knowledge by creating beautiful double-page spreads in their books. We were impressed with the care the children took and the pride they showed in their completed work.
Despite the cold weather, all children in Year 3 managed at least an hour of P.E this week. The tag rugby group used the courtyard (which was nicely sheltered from the wind!) for their session and did really well when practising carrying the ball, putting the ball down, passing the ball, and learning how to tag!
Well done to our special mentions this week: Xavier, Sirat, Ayra, Amelia and Jude.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend (and hoping those of you who have been feeling poorly get well soon).
Mrs Sykes and Mrs Begum
