Poems, performances and parties!
This week has been jam-packed with learning, arts and crafts, and parties! The children have worked hard throughout this term, and seeing their progress has been a joy. We look forward to seeing them after the break and continuing our learning.
Poetry performance
Here are our performances of ‘The Adventures of Isabel’; we hope you enjoy them!
English
Following their poem performances of ‘The Adventures of Isabel,’ the children enjoyed listening and reading through ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’. The children shared their favourite parts with reasons and identified some features the poet used. We then moved on to learning about similes and writing phrases describing Santa. They then wrote poems about Santa, Christmas, and Winter using rhyme and similes.
Here are pictures of setting descriptions and beautifully designed doors that children will bring home. They look forward to reading this to you and taking you on a journey to the Place Between like they have been!
D.T
It’s been a busy few days for 3CW, as they have been working on their DT project linked to our science unit, light and dark. The children practised putting together different levers before designing and creating their own using oscillating and linear motions.
Final design!
Arts and crafts
3B loved creating beautiful cards, calendars and a craft!
Party time!
Thursday afternoon was the week’s highlight for Year 3, as it was a party! The children changed into their beautiful, merry outfits and enjoyed listening to and singing along to songs. After lots of fun and games, it was time to eat, and it was fair to say that they were hungry by the time they sat down! Thank you to all parents and carers for your kind contributions to our party.
Santa!
We were so excited when Santa came to visit!
Theatre visit
We sent home a letter about our visit to the theatre in January. A kind reminder to support us with our visit with a contribution on parent pay.
We’ve sent some more letters home today for children that have misplaced them. Thank you to all parents who have put themselves in the position of being able to volunteer. Both classes have been fortunate to have had many come forward to support us. We have contacted our volunteers (we did end up picking out of a hat!); however, volunteers can sometimes change due to circumstances, and if this is the case, we will email asking if anyone can fill in without it being too much trouble.
To all our families celebrating Christmas, we wish you a magical Christmas and hope everyone has a wonderful new year! Thank you for all your support.
Mrs Begum, Mrs White & Mrs Connolly
