Reception News – 27.9.24

Phonics

This week the children have learnt the phoneme/graphemes s, a, t and p. They met Mr Fox and his phonic box and they helped him sort lots of objects.

The children have also had fun singing these songs too.

Maths

This week we have been doing lots of subitising. When subitising, children can say how many there are in a small group of objects by ‘just seeing’ and knowing straight away without needing to count. They have had fun doing lots of practical maths activities.

We have also introduced the children to the Numberblocks. These are fun characters that we will use during some of our maths lessons.

Visiting the farm

The children enjoyed going to the school farm. They saw the chickens and all picked an apple.
