Reception News – 7.2.25

What an exciting week! RP and RGK received a letter from a star who had fallen from the sky. They had to use their detective skills to find it. Once they found the star they had to think of ways they could get it back up to the sky. The children wrote to the star, drew maps and made some super models. We can now report back that the star has made it safely back home. Maybe you can see it twinkling in the sky tonight.

Phonics

This week we have revised the phonemes j, v, w, and x. Our new tricky words are my and me. Can your child join in with our tricky word song?

Maths

This week, the children have been developing their understanding of composition or the numbers within numbers. A key focus was exploring ways to represent numbers using a die pattern.

This helped them secure their understanding of the pairs of numbers that make 5. We also began to explore 6 and 7 as numbers that are composed of ‘5 and a bit’.

PE

This half term our focus is gymnastics. The children have been developing their travelling, jumping and balancing skills.
