Farsley Farfield Primary School

Sewing, sports, celery and some super writing!

Here is what we have been up to this week in Year 3!

D.T

The children have been very excited to start their new D.T project – making Roman-inspired purses. This week, we thought about the design of our purse and we practised the running stitch. The children did so well with this, persevering and waiting patiently for help with threading needles and tying knots, taking such care with their stitches and helping each other where they could. We are all looking forward to making our purses next week!

English

In English, the children finished writing their newspaper reports about Pompeii. They did a super job and tried really hard to use the features we had talked about.

Some children in 3B also created some artwork to finish off our ‘Escape from Pompeii’ unit of work.

3SB have started some work based around a mysterious animation called ‘The Black Hat’. Today, the children thought of descriptive phrases that they would use to describe the creatures that came out of the hat. They used these phrases to create some beautiful pieces of work!

Science

In science, we used some celery and food colouring to find out how water is transported though a plant!

P.E

Here is what our bouldering group has been getting up to this half term:

And here are some photos from athletics:

Well done to our special mentions this week: Mustafa, Zaynab, Dahlia, Arthur and Kasim!

Thank you to everyone who has returned the permission slip for our trips to the Royal Armouries Museum after half term. We are still in need of some parent volunteers in 3SB if anyone is able to join us.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,

Mrs Sykes and Mrs Begum
