Tests, tests and making plastic
Hi all,
Last week in year 5 we did our end of term tests in reading and Maths. On the whole the children did well and we will be able to share and discuss results at our upcoming parents evenings on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you have not yet booked an appointment, please check your emails to do so.
In Science we had fun making an old fashioned type of plastic called Casien. We did this by combining warm milk and strong White vinegar. Although the smell was disgusting, it was fascinating to watch the irreversible change take place. Last week we made honeycomb by adding bicarbinate of soda to melted butter, dissolved sugar and golden syrup. The children have now finished our topic on materials in scinece.
Next week we will begin our DT project of making rainforest animals by using fabric and sewing skills.
We have set one last week of homework on finding different perimeters in maths.
We look forwards to seeing you all at parents evening next week,
Thanks the Year 5 team
