The Final Countdown!
We have had an absolutely jam-packed week in Year 4! From trips to science competitions, we have done it all!
Science Superstars
After some absolutely fantastic auditions from both classes for this years ‘Science Superstars’ competition, we chose a representative from each class to go through to the finals. Both Freddie and Sophie did an absolutely amazing job and really wowed the judges and the rest of the school with their experiments and scientific explanations. We were so impressed by everyone that took part and all of our scientists should be very proud of themselves!
Girl’s Football
Thankfully, the awful rain on Tuesday stopped, literally, between 2:30 and 5pm and so the Year 4 girls who took part in the football tournament at Woodlesford had a great afternoon. We played four matches, with each girl playing at least two, which meant twenty minutes in total. We drew the first 0-0 and had the better chances, but then lost the next game by one goal to nil. We were then put in another league against a couple of teams who looked very experienced, but we didn’t really struggle apart from we conceded goals in each game. The high point was when Neave scored to level the scores in the final match, but the tired legs didn’t manage to hold on until the end. The positives from the tournament were that all the girls enjoyed it and worked for each other. They also improved, the more they played. Well done Autumn, Evie, Jeea, Layla, Maisie, Maude, Mia, Neave, Reyah and Sophie.
RE
On Monday, Mr Beevers took 4L to visit the Lincoln Green Mosque, near St James’ hospital. The children were in time to see the afternoon prayers and sat silently whilst it took place. They then completed a treasure hunt, looking for answers to questions related to Islam. Finally, there was a memory game, where groups had to try and remember which artefacts were hidden under a cloth, with an added challenge of identifying the significance of each one. The children enjoyed the afternoon, were impeccably behaved throughout and were a massive credit to themselves and the school.
Trip to Burnsall
They are a little late, but here are some of the photos taken from our trips to Burnsall. The children were all fantastic and made some great observations!
There is no homework this week, though the children do still need to do their daily reading. They can also access our online programs: Spelling Shed, Mathletics, Reading Eggspress and TTRocks.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
