This week in Nursery
This week we chatted to those children who had celebrated Diwali and decided to make some Diva lamps. Some children chose to make them and carefully moulded the clay into the shape of a lamp. When they were dry they painted them and added some glitter! Aren’t the results beautiful?
Music
Some of our children were making musical instruments from the pots and pans in the Home Corner so we enhanced our provision with musical instruments. We modelled how to play each instrument and had lots of fun playing them and accompanying our favourite songs.
We’re going on a bear hunt!
This half term our story is ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ by Michael Rosen. Many of the children are already familiar with this story and can join in with the repeated refrains. This week we have been watching Michael Rosen perform his story and using picture cards to sequence it.
Lots of other fun!
Here are a few photos of the many other things the children have been doing in Nursery this week…
Reading challenge
We have a new reading challenge for 2023-24! This year we would like children to read a book each month that fits in with each monthly theme. November’s theme is Light and Dark. Children can read books at home each month then add it to their chart which will be kept in their library book folder. At the end of the year, children who have completed all of the monthly challenges, will be included in a prize draw! Good luck!
Colour raffle
Don’t forget that Nursery are collecting red items for the colour raffle. There is a box just outside the Nursery door or you can just hand your donations to Nursery staff. Thank you.
Have a lovely weekend from the Nursery team
