Trading in Baghdad
Good evening parents and carers,
Well what a great week in Year 5!
In Maths we have been mastering long multiplication. Homework has been set on Mathletics.
Science
In science we have finished working on Forces, creating pulleys to lift objects. We have now begun a new topic on the properties of materials. The children enjoyed sorting solids, liquids and gases, focusing on materials such as jelly, ketchup, shaving foam, and hair gel.
History
In History we learnt about the Silk Route. We then pretended we were in the market place in Baghdad and traded different products from the Silk Route.
In English we have begun studying the Shakespear play ‘A Midsummer night’s Dream. The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning the plot using the BBC website animation found here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/english-a-midsummer-nights-dream-index/z6rcgwx
Children have been sent spelling adding the suffix -ibly and ably this week.
Enjoy your weekend,
The Year 5 team.
