WB 24.6.24
It has been a very warm and fun-filled week in Year 5. The Science Superstar auditions have been the highlight of the week, and we have been busy preparing for our trip to Malham next week.
Malham
Next week, both classes will be going to Malham (5KH on the 3rd of July and 5HB on the 5th of July). Children have been using Ordnance Survey Maps to practice reading 6-figure grid references and plan our walking routes for the trip. We have also been starting to think about what it will be like to visit Malham and how it might be different. We are considering how Malham is different from Leeds.
Here is a link to the trip letter with information about what time children are expected to be at school and details of what they will need to bring with them. Please remember that if your child would like an ice cream, the payment must be made on ParentPay by Monday, 1st July at the latest.
Science Superstars
This week the Year 5 classrooms have been buzzing with excitement as children have been taking part in our Science Superstars auditions. The children have amazed us with their fantastically ambitious and well-prepared experiments. They have also demonstrated a very strong understanding of the science behind their experiments and have been using some excellent technical vocabulary.
Here is a link to some videos of the 5KH Science Superstar entries.
Now that each ‘star’ has had a chance to share, each class will decide who they would like to send through to the final, which will take place on Friday, the 12th.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Year 5 Team
