Week Two!
We’ve had another wonderful week in Year 3!
English
In English we wrote diary entries all about our first week in Year 3. We tried to use conjunctions and ambitious vocabulary. We were very impressed with the children’s content and presentation.
We also enjoyed reading more of Stone Age Boy in guided reading, particularly focusing on our fluency and our inference skills.
Art
Inspired by our reading, we created beautiful pictures of some of our favourite parts of Stone Age Boy so far.
P.E
In P.E we began our choices this week. All children are taking part in either football, skipping or cross country this half term, as well as either gymnastics (3S) or athletics (3B) in the core element of the P.E curriculum. We were really impressed with the effort that the children put in and the skills they showed.
Maths
In maths we have been partitioning 3-digit numbers, thinking carefully about the value of each digit.
Music
In music, we used the glockenspiels for the first time, learning a part to accompany our song ‘Let Your Spirit Fly’. The children developed their technique when using the beater and made great progress with their understanding of rhythm. They also continued to sing the song beautifully.
Homework
Homework this week is a worksheet to consolidate understanding of place value in three-digit numbers.
Please support your child by signing their reading record five times a week and helping your child remember to bring their reading record to school each day!
Also a polite reminder that P.E kit should only be worn on Wednesdays.
Thank you everyone for another brilliant week. We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
