World Book Day in Year 3!
We had a great time celebrating World Book Day on Thursday! Year 3 thought of some fabulous costumes and adjectives, including highly visible, smart, festive, dark, sporty, sparkly, cool and explosive! Oh, and of course Happy, Sneezy, Bashful, Sleepy, Grumpy and Dopey!
We worked in groups to discuss the adjectives we had chosen and how we could use the adjectives to create our own characters.
We also made story stones by painting characters onto rocks.
On Wednesday, we took part in a virtual lesson delivered by Emily-Jane Clark, author of the Beasts of Knobbly Bottom books. It was interesting to hear about Emily-Jane’s inspiration for her stories and her tips for writing funny books and creating characters. We then had a go at creating our own beasts, which we really enjoyed.
Both Year 3 classes also visited their Nursery reading buddies this week. It was so lovely to see the older children interacting so thoughtfully and gently with the younger children, chatting to them, reading to them and playing with them.
The children showed lots of enthusiasm and creativity throughout the day. I hope everyone feels inspired to try a new book or author, or even have a go at writing a story! Wilf has summed up our feelings with a great little animation (click on the link to hear the sound!)

Well done to our long list of special mentions this week: Arthur, Meaghan, Amaya, Zayn, Ayaan A and Reece!
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
