Year 1 – 06.09.24
We have had a fantastic first week in Year 1! It has been wonderful getting to know all of the children better and they are settling into the routines of Year 1 well.
Phonics and reading
This week we have completed a phonics assessment with each child and heard each child read. Your child will have came home with a reading book, new reading record, and a key word game if they still have key words to learn. Please read with your child at least four times a week for around 10 minutes and write in your child’s reading record that you have done so.
Art
We have had lots of fun painting our own self portraits.
Exploring our new classrooms
We have had lots of fun exploring our new classrooms and outside area.
PE
We will start our PE lessons next week. Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please can your child come to school in their PE kit on those days.
History
We will be starting our history lessons next week. For our lessons, we will be exploring how we have changed since a baby. If possible, please send in a named photo of your child as a baby or toddler to support these lessons. Alternatively, you could email the picture to rebecca.broadhead@farsleyfarfield.org.uk or andrea.tomlinson@farsleyfarfield.org.uk and we can print them in school.
Newsletter
A newsletter has been sent home today with lots of information about this term. It is also attached here.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Year 1 Team
