A Miracle in Town

The main highlight of our week has been the Christmas show. The children did such a fantastic job. Here is a recording of the performance for you to enjoy.

Phonics

In phonics, we have continued to revisit the Phase 5 phonemes/graphemes. We have also completed all of the Phase 5 phonics assessments.

English

This week we have looked at winter scenes. The children have used adjectives to write descriptive sentences.

We have also practised forming the letters r, v, and w.

Maths

In our maths lessons this week have consolidated our learning. The children have used their knowledge of number bonds within 10 to complete a winter themed challenge.

They have also enjoyed this fun number bonds song.

RE

This term the children have been learning all about the Christmas Story. They have retold it through role-play and they have sequenced the story using pictures to support them to retell the story. The children shared lots of lovely stories about the first Christmas.

Art

We have made beautiful calendars inspired by Wassily Kandinsky’s ‘Squares with Concentric Circles’.

Christmas Fun

We had a very special visitor on Wednesday! The children were very excited to see Santa Claus.

The children all had fun at our Year 1 party on Thursday.

Glass Workshop

In the first week back we will be taking part in a glass workshop. Your child will have brought home a letter with more information earlier this week. It is attached here too. Thank you to those who have already paid. Payments need to be made no later than the 8th of January 2024 please.
