English

In English this week we have been learning all about instructions. We have looked at the features of these and learned all about imperative (bossy) verbs, time adverbials and commands. We have sequenced instructions in chronological order. Next week we will be writing some of our own instructions.

Spellings

This week we have looked at all the different ways to make the ee sound. ee, ea, y, e-e, ey

We have looked at homophones using these different ee/ea spellings e.g. meet, meat, read, reed, week, weak.

Please find some time to discuss and practise these at home. we will have an informal test on Monday next week.

Reading

Every day we have a reading lesson where we read with an adult or complete a reading activity independently. In our groups we focus on reading fluency using strategies such as echo reading. We also answer questions about what we have read and discuss the meaning of words. The children have worked hard in their independent groups to complete some simple comprehension activities. Well done. Please keep reminding you child to change their reading book when you have finished.
