English
We have started a new non-fiction unit all about African animals. In English lessons this week, we have been researching and finding facts about zebras, giraffes, lions and elephants. Here we are sorting fact sentences into paragraphs. We read the fact to decide if it was about the animal’s appearance, diet or habitat. Next week, we will be writing our own facts under these headings about a different animal.
Spellings
This week we have been adding the suffixes ful, less and ly.
Maths
In maths this week we have focused on doubling and halving, odd and even numbers and multiplying by 10.
Art
We have enjoyed creating our tinga tinga animal art. Last week we drew our animal and painted the background. This week we have used pens and crayons to create the animal. We think the children did a brilliant job!
Visit to the Church
On Thursday we visited St John’s Church in Farsley. Thank you to Reverend. Gareth Howles for teaching the children the Easter story and explaining why Easter is an important time for Christians.
Science
In science we have been looking at materials that can change their shape. last week we tested some different materials for their elasticity. This week, we started to look at different designs for catapults. We had a go at making our own!
