Year 6 14.2.25- Happy Half Term
Trip to the Royal Armouries
We had two fantastic visits this week to the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. Children were put through their paces by Corporal Gibbs and taught how to march and hold their rifles to attention! Then it was off to the medical unit to work with Nurse Goodwin who taught the children about the potential medical issues which may have occurred on the front line and how they might be treated. Children had to dissect jelly wounds and analyse shrapnel; bandage each other with care; and examine artefacts to decide what might help and what might hinder recovery.
Pictures here of both classes.
We were then lucky enough to watch a live demonstration from the staff and, after lunch, took part in a self-guided tour around the exhibits. All the children commented on how much they enjoyed their visit and there are many special events taking part next week in this amazing, free, museum. Why not take a trip over half term so your child can show you around and tell you about what they learned?
Here is some writing from Sebastian in 6D about his day.
There be dragons…
Over the last two weeks we have been writing non-chronological reports about dragons. We have worked hard on describing their appearance and the way they are adapted to their habitats. Some of us then wrote a second report about an animal of our choosing. Here is some of our wonderful writing.
