English

This week the children have begun to learn the techniques of persuasion. We will be writing in role as a character from our text War Horse over the next few sessions and this week played around with language and grammar in order to get Miss Jones and Mrs Dobkin to extend break by 5 minutes using a website called padlet.

Have a look at our padlets and see whether you would have been persuaded.

History

This week we have begun our topic on the Great War. Children learned about the origins of WW1 and we had some amazing discussions linked to current world events. This is a complicated but fascinating topic and both Mrs Dobkin and Miss Jones were proud of the way in which the children responded.

RE

Our unit of work this term has been around Sikhism and how people of the Sikh faith show commitment to their beliefs. This week we learned about the formation of the Khalsa and the children created some quick quizzes to test each other on what they’d learned. Why not give one a go?

Reading Challenge

We have a new reading challenge for 2023-24! This year we would like children to read a book each month that fits in with a chosen theme. November’s theme is Light and Dark. Children can choose a book from the library or a book at home to read each month then add it to their chart, which will be assigned on Google Classroom. We will share examples of books for each theme in class to help give children ideas for what to read. When they have completed each monthly challenge, they can earn a dojo. At the end of the year, children who have completed all of the monthly challenges will be included in a prize draw! Good luck!
