Women! Learn to make munitions
This week in History we have continued our work on the Barnbow Lasses. Year 6 enjoyed researching some local history and finding out about the brave women who worked in the first National Filing and Munitions factory of WW1 located near Crossgates in Leeds.
In groups the children made slides or google sites. Have a look at some of their work below – we were really impressed by the amount they were able to find out.

This week we have continued to write our stories about Min. We tried hard to build the mood of the setting through vocabulary choices and make her daily life sound awful. We then introduced a new setting: a workhouse. Again through language choices and sentence structure we tried to evoke a feeling of boredom and physical effort for our main character.
